Strive For Five

Our mission at World Cleanup Day UK is to ‘Strive for 5’: to involve 5% of the population in our September cleanups.

World Cleanup Day has grown to become the biggest civic action movement in human history.
 

Globally, 1.7% of the global population have taken part in direct action on World Cleanup Day. Some other countries, including Estonia and Latvia, have already reached their 5% target. 
 

To reach 5% in the UK we would need to involve 3.5 million people in our litter picks. Sounds a lot? It’s less than the number of people that usually watch Coronation Street.
